Trends that will change the tech backdrop

February 10th, 2012

Ours is a new world of modern technology. Day by day the world is changing in to something new. Each and every day when you wake up from your bed, you get to know about new innovations and new gadgets and gizmos entering this world. Everything around you seems to be so technical and faster. For instance, you don’t need to type, you can just do everything with a touch. The latest technology doesn’t even allow you to make coffee or stitch clothes on your own.

You have machines, gizmos, gadgets, devices for each and everything. Now, even if you try to live your life without these devices, you can’t stay away for a long time. This whole new world of gadgets has made your life faster and easier. In this world of technology, cars listen, television screens bend and machines operate on remote control. You have a single remote control for all the machines, gadgets, devices at your home.

Technology trends are changing day by day and makes you daily work easier. And the biggest good news for all businesses is that all the first generation products are sold at lower price by some vendors who are in need of fast cash. Even though these first generation products are highly expensive, these products can be purchased at lower price from tech vendors in need of money.

Now you have everything in your hands, with the new series of smart phones entering the tech market. You can combine everything right from office to mobile to web data. Also, the line is blurring between personal and business use of various different types of technologies.

For instance, cloud is used by various people to set the back up for their photos, contacts, documents and other personal and private data. Cloud is also used to share these photos with friends, family and relatives. Also, not only photos but other business data can be shared with colleagues, clients or even juniors.

Thus, the world of smart phones has made it easy to carry those brief cases full of files and documents via the web. These tablets and smart phones help you save your data and documents in them and then you can print them on the spot if you need a hard copy of it. You can also send these documents directly to the listed printers and get a print of them. This has saved all the business men from taking stress of carrying big heavy luggage of business materials which you can even save in your smart phones.

Secondly it’s the world of touch. The trend of touch smart phones is in demand since a long time. Everything is managed by just a touch of finger.

Auto manufacturers are on a spree of offering low cost business oriented productivity and tools with big time company fleets. This has left small business owners also to stop and think about company fleet.

All in the entire new technological trend is growing faster and faster leaving you with no choice but to change your lifestyle according to them.

Before going public…

February 9th, 2012

Every one of us is very well aware of the word “Facebook”. Almost all of us reading this article have an account on www.facebook.com. Over a period of time, facebook has successfully achieved the title of being the most popular social networking website. There are about billions of people using facebook for staying connected with people all around the globe.

The company behind this well known social networking medium that took over the web since its launch is converting themselves in to a public firm on Wednesday. Facebook is planning to get itself sold to public in some parts. A 200 page regulatory document is filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission so that they can get ready for the first public hearing in the end of February that is the start of spring.

The company’s regulatory has opened up many secrets about the working of company, and many of them are unexpected. If you get a look at the filing, you will come to know about some of the important challenges investors will have to face which will decide whether facebook will continue to rule the social networking market or not. The challenges will help you to know if facebook will continue being in demand or go in to the place where users have also dumped Myspace.

There are number of challenges that are to be faced. The biggest challenge is the power of Mark Zuckerberg. Even though there is a public offering for facebook, Mark Zuckerberg will always remain the owner of largest part of facebook alone. Also, all the company decision will be passed under his affirmations as he has the top authority as he is the founder and CEO of the company.

Mobile phones are the second big challenge because almost 845 million users are active on facebook via various mobile applications such as facebook app for iPhone, Blackberry or any other Android powered phone. It is one of the positive good news for the company, as people are replacing their desktops and laptops with smart phones and tablets to get connected to facebook. But the issue is, facebook receives a lot of money from ads and there is no way you can display ads on mobile phones via facebook app.

Next is restriction of connecting to facebook in the fastest growing country of world, China. China has banned use of social networking site facebook. Chinese internet users are not allowed to enter this site and they have to face censorship. Still, facebook has not tried to butter Beijing and deliver their social networking site in the country. On the contrary, if ever facebook starts getting delivered in the country, the company will have to face the troublesome Chinese government and their rules and regulations regarding the social networking site.

Just like Google, facebook also earns most of its revenue through ads and other marketing strategies done by various companies. Facebook also earns from games from Zyanga and also from other games like Farmville, pet society, mafia wars, poker, etc. The company discloses that most of their advertisers are on short term basis; this is going to prove a negative point on the side of facebook.

Thus, it is clear that facebook has to show user growth in order to attract investors. Therefore, facebook need to go overseas and set up more offices to earn more and more revenue. This will force the company to abide to the rules and regulations of local countries also. Thus, as a whole, facebook has too many hurdles before going public. As a result, the investors and company both have to face loads of challenges to make the company a great success.

RIM faces short term bounce!

February 3rd, 2012

All of us are very well aware of the master mind behind the Blackberry operating system. Blackberry ruled the market immediately after its launch. The operating system RIM was so powerful that it out shadowed the popular operating systems like iOS. It was so clear that people loved their new smart phones. But then RIM entered the new financial year of 2011.

RIM has been facing ups and downs in their company and trading since the start of 2011. Everyone knows that it was a bad year for RIM, very bad. The all new Blackberry Tablet didn’t work in the market and finally they ended up selling their Playbooks for discounted price. Also, their new range of Blackberry Smart phones could not create furor in the mobile market as Android and iOS was already ruling the market.

Recently it was reported that the company is again planning to make chief executive level shifts without any new strategic directions.  Rim stocks are also not going up and still RIM makers are not thinking of any great innovative strategy. God knows what they are up to!

With these changes, RIM also faced a showdown of about 8 percent in their stock prices. Earlier there was an instance, where the stocks were oversold that actually created short term edges and thus went higher and higher.  But now, things can’t go worse than this for RIM, as the stock’s latest rally into overbought field.

This is a very rare moment in the entire lifetime of Research in Motion as the conditions previously were low, but now they are going lower. Thus, this made sellers to finally put the stock down in an agitation of selling for trading on the first day of the week. Following the struggle of Research in Motion in the market, one thing is sure that every investor is going to think thousand times before investing their cash in this company.

Investors would surely follow the so called rule of buying stocks that are moving above 200/ day average. Investors would surely have lots of doubts in their minds related to Research in Motion’s slip in stock. Finally Research in Motion has entered the bear market territory of US trading market, and investors have lost all hopes of this company escaping this territory as soon as possible.  But it is said that the stocks which are running below 200 per day average are not able to cope up with the bear market territory tag.

And it is believed that even if Research in Motion fortunately gets out of this territory, it will surely make it to the top again. Let’s just wish them all the best! As it is observed that those companies who have luckily escaped this bear market territory have positively bounced back in the market. For instance, the Citigroup or the Bank of America made remarkable recoils in current week. Just like RIM, Citibank also faced the same condition, and their stocks were running lower and lower.

Panasonic going to face loss

February 3rd, 2012

ONe of the largest companies making home appliances since ages is facing loss in this new age of technology. Panasonic has speculated a total loss of $10.2 billion on Friday. At a press meet, Panasonic apologized for the loss.

Along with Sony, Panasonic has entered the sea of bright red ink, both are struggling to make up for their broken television business and get over the criticisms they had to face. Panasonic had faced this loss merely due to write downs and restructuring that also includes Sanyo Electric unit. The company is already heading towards $10.2 billion loss.

Panasonic is already in a big procedure of losing about 17,000 jobs by the end of March. Televisions are becoming smarter day by day, televisions can be connected to any other devices like tablets, smart phones, etc.thus, it is impossible to win over these televisions and create your own television line. Panasonic will have to hold the grip of their problems to level up their television business.

Also, Panasonic owners have no plans to shut down their television business. It is being purported that if Panasonic’s share market doesn’t stop going down continuously then they will surely need to think about some restructuring. Many investors are getting into the negative outlook about the company because of their continued losses in the business of television.

It’s not only the television business, but investors are keeping their hands away from Panasonic shares because of huge profit risks. People are not sure whether Panasonic will gain enough revenue in future. Earlier, Panasonic shares went down on Friday which is said to be lowest point for Panasonic shares in last 30 years. But fortunately they closed up at 1.2 percent just after the release of their quarter results.

On the other hand, Sony is all set to start with a new beginning with eight percent increase in its share price this Friday. So now even if Panasonic plans to expand their business in niche markets, the television sales are still forbidding.

Panasonic does look forward to construct an operating profit that leaves out one off bits and pieces such as restructuring charges even though this is now observed only at 30 billion yen, which are down from a preceding 130 billion yen. Last year the company had achieved an operating profit of about 305 billion yen. the company owner Mr. Ohtsubo only talked about company’s most sold products such as refrigerators, washing machines and various other household appliances, that has helped the company to rise up their quarterly profit by more than eight percent to 26 billion yen in which the operating profit was 8 percent.

The Panasonic owners have promised of bringing up new and new products in the market so that they can attract more local as well as global consumers. The firm is already into selling a huge range of items right from massage chairs, shavers and other kitchen appliances to fax machines, nose hair trimmers, lighted toilet seats and bicycle pumps. Still they are thinking of coming up with new series of products.

RuggedCom Inc – Friendly deal!

February 2nd, 2012

Finally, the RuggedCom Inc. has been taken over by the communications leader Siemens Canada limited in a friendly way. RuggedCom Inc. has really found the Canadian technology leader which will help them make communication equipments for different environments.

Siemens Canada Ltd. Won against the St. Louis-based cable maker Belden Inc. to acquire the RuggedCom Inc at a price of $33 per share. Previously Belden had offered a noteworthy price of $22 per share. Thus, finally RuggedCom Inc has merged with the Canadian communication leader Siemens Canada Ltd. This will help RuggedCom Inc to keep them intact and the company’s huge international operations will prove to be beneficial to them.

RuggedCom Inc. will merge with Siemens’ ongoing work on smart grid technologies which distributes electricity and various communication networks to industrial clients. The $440 million bid will be open for more than 35 days and then the bid will be closed at the end of March.

RuggedCom Inc is planning to add a different angle in network router and switches that are designed for places full of mess such as oil refineries, roadside traffic control boxes, military applications and power sub stations. But, RuggedCom Inc is going to maintain its ongoing personal sales, research and development, and production functions and will become the part of Siemens industrial automation division.

Siemens will try and innovate RuggedCom Inc while maintaining its original form with the help of Siemens’ international research and projects. Many analysts say that the value of this firm RuggedCom Inc can be valued for more than $35 per share. But it is reported that RuggedCom Inc had a talk with various parties before giving themselves up to Siemens Canada Ltd.

RuggedCom Inc is trading almost at the triple price since last September. Its share almost jumped up to 25 percent more prices when Siemens offered them $32.85 per share. The Ontario based organization that provides communications networking products and services for harsh environments has made up their mind to make a friendly deal with Siemens at a share price of $33 per share. RuggedCom Inc said that the previous offer was inadequate to fulfill the need of the corporation and its 360 employees. Other parties have 35 days to propose their price, and if they offer greater price than what’s offered by Siemens, the corporation will delete Siemens Canada Ltd. also from its list.

The reported revenue of RuggedCom Inc is about $94 million a year, so they didn’t agree to the deal placed by Beldens. Thus, Siemens also has a positive point in buying this company. Siemens can reach up to North America and Asia Pacific with an improvement in its router and switches. The German engineering company was attracted to the Canadian corporation because of its durable Ethernet communication products and network solutions.

Thus, Siemens will take over RuggedCom Inc to improve the quality of its products and services with the help of this outstanding data communications network system.

If all goes well from both the RuggedCom Inc and Siemens Canada Ltd., then they will surely become one by the end of march 2012.

Censored….!!

February 1st, 2012

Blocked?? Censored? Everyone asking, BUT WHY? Yes, there’s a bad news for all social network addicts, your all time favorite past time social site, Twitter is now going to have their tweets censored.

It’s a red alert! The Twitter owners announced their new censorship policy on Thursday. The policy states that Twitter won’t allow some messages and tweets to be seen in some countries. The service may get spotty in various countries. They have taken this step related to censorship in order to comply with the rules and regulations of each and every country.

For example, tweets related to pro-Nazi topics will not be permitted in Germany whereas if you criticizing the government, you can’t view the tweet if you are in China. Thus, if Twitter is removing some comment, it will clearly indicate you on first hand that your tweet has been censored and that tweet or message will be forwarded to the Chilling Effects Clearinghouse that is into creating databases of all the tweets that are deleted.

Twitter has been very useful in protest, campaigns; it has also played a vital role in the Egyptian revolution and other Iranian protest during its 2009 election. Thus, with this censorship policy, it is surely going to disappoint many of the revolutionaries and campaigns out there.

Even after this policy, the tweeples have not stopped campaigning and protesting. Many of the tweets are coupled with #dontcensor tags in order to protest against this policy. Thus, it is very much clear that users do not like this very policy of censorship.

Thus, with this policy there will be more transparency in twitter and you will come to know whose tweet has been removed or deleted. If you tweet against some country, it won’t be seen in that country and thus, there will be no complaints.

This country-by-country basis tweet also created a buzz around the gay community. The gay community says that this decision is due to the SOPA and PIPA activists and thus, twitter has introduced this new policy of censoring tweets in some countries. As for now, China has banned this site, and it is temporarily not accessible in Egypt.

Thus, the gay community is worried that their LGBT tweets will be blocked in some countries and this will lead to decrease in communication between the LGBT activists in different countries. Hence, this censorship has been a great question of worry for communicating feelings and emotions in other countries if it’s not permitted in their rules.

Many of the reporters without border have condemned this decision of censorship and many other groups have started protesting with hash tags having #BoycottTwitter proliferated over the weekend written after it. Thus, many users have joined this online movement against the censorship of tweets.

Tweeples have been very much outraged by this decision and hence they are expressing their feelings and anger in form of their tweets or boycotting their account for sometime. Thus, it is so clear that the internet and its users hate censorship and now twitter has been the target of this hatred.  Let’s just hope users just cope up with this fact and accept censorship on tweets happily.
