Range And Features Of Multi-Tech Fax Servers

Multi-Tech  Systems Inc specializes in external and embedded modems. This company is a pioneer in building communication equipments that connect people over analog and cellular networks. Multi-tech has in excess of 80 patents to its name and over 20 million devices are sold to millions of customers.

There is a wide range of products offered by them:

  1. Fax servers:

A fax server is a faxing machine that is connected in a Local area network server that allows all the computers that are connected to that server to send and receive fax messages. The main advantage of such a system over traditional faxing machine is that the user does not have to get up from his position and go physically to the fax machine to send any fax.

The other advantage is that there is considerable savings in paper. The user has to just upload the file to the server without having to print the file on paper in order to fax it.

The third and most important advantage is that there is considerable amount of cost saving as far as fax machine hardware is concerned.

Imagine your organization has 100 employees and each require faxing capabilities. It is not feasible for the organization to have 100 fax machines. So to fulfill such a need fax servers are very useful.

Multi-Tech strives to achieve just that. In addition to all this all incoming faxes are put in a pdf or tiff extension and sent directly to the recipient’s email or printed on a network connected printer. They also provide high degree of privacy and access control over the LAN. Outgoing faxes can be sent through the web browser or through different Microsoft Office applications.

There are many additional features that are provided. Some of them are:

  1. The fax server provides access to personal and corporate phonebooks which also include Microsoft Outlook address book, so there is no additional overhead of searching different contacts for the purpose of sending faxes.
  2. One can monitor outgoing faxes from the organization and can set up approval systems for sending faxes.
  3. Automatic printing facility of incoming faxes
  4. Automatic failure notice generation for documents that could not be faxed.
  5. Web interface which is very user friendly and easy to use with firmware upgrades and back up facility from any location.
  6. Two year Warranty
  7. Apart form storage availability in the company server, the fax server also provides storage for incoming and outgoing faxes.
  8. Fax client compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2008, 2003 and MS-OFFICE

There are different Fax servers provided by MULTI-TECH:

  1. Internet Protocol Fax server

FF240-IP: It is a 2-channel fax server with T.38 faxing protocol

FF240-IP-2 is for US/Canada, FF240-IP-2-EU is for Europe, FF240-IP-2-GB/IE for Great Britain and Ireland. There’s also a globally available FF240-IP-Brackets which is very useful for mounting the fax server.

  1. Analog Fax Server:

FF130 series:

These are all one port fax servers with V.34 protocol for communication.

Similarly FF230 series are 2 port servers, FF430 series are 4 port servers and FF830 are 8 port V.34 Fax servers respectively.

Initially in the 60’s airline headsets were so large and heavy that most of the airline pilots found it difficult to use and instead they used handheld microphones for communication. So in order to do away with this drawback, Courtney Graham, a United Airlines pilot and  his pilot friend, Keith Larkin created a small lightweight headset for airline standards which eventually led to the birth of Pacific Plantronics now called as Plantronics Inc. DATEL Call centre Reporting

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

DATEL Software solution is a telecommunication software manufacturing company. DATEL mainly strives to achieve telecommunication software solutions that are relevant to all industries especially call centers and phone systems manufacturers. DATEL does not provide software solutions directly to end users. Their software is sold through business partners who in turn estimate the customers’ needs and leverage the technology to provide them with the appropriate software.

The main advantage of DATEL software solutions is that they provide live product demonstrations to potential customers so that the client can get full hands on view of what the functionality of the actual software would be. The second advantage of using DATEL products is that employees working in a particular firm would require minimal technical expertise.

The core products of DATEL Software solutions are:

  1. CALL SWEET!

This is a software solution for call accounting purposes. Typically in a small to medium scale enterprise where high productivity is desired at a low cost, the feature rich qualities of this product are very desirable.

It is primarily a web based application. Being a web based application one can access it from anywhere around the world. Imagine being a top official of a company you are always on the move. So if you want to access different reports from your office or when at a meeting/conference or while on the move, everything is taken care of. In addition to all this CALL SWEET also provides adequate security and access control over your critical data. A supervisor will have complete control and can decide which data can be viewed by which subset of people.

CALLSWEET has a real time grasping ability that allows the supervisor to see what actually is happening in the company and to which numbers calls are being made. The main advantage of all this is that it prohibits telephone abuse and misuse by the employees which in turn increases productivity and decreases cost. One can also create a blocked list of numbers to which calls cannot be made and in case it is made then it will trigger an alarm that the supervisor can monitor. This software can be integrated with the billing system coupled with the user friendly graphical interface and data drill down capability. To view detailed data from summarized data are some of the additional features that CALLSWEET provide to make your business reach places.

  1. CALL SWEET! LIVE:

An agent in a particular enterprise is expected to be a part of many groups like customer support and sales or administration and technical support. For serving this purpose CALL SWEET! LIVE was created. Using this we can chat electronically with other employees of the hunt group in addition to creating reports of different agents. The additional features provided by CALL SWEET! Live are Dialer, Click-2-Dial, Voice Recording, Disposition codes (a method to label incoming and outgoing calls from the system). This application not only provides real time information of calls but also provides historical data useful for making reports.

Different types of cellphones based on design

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

When Alexander Graham Bell articulated the well-known sentence “Mr Watson—Come here—I want to see you” into the liquid transmitter, history was created. For the first time man was capable of transmitting his own voice in real time through a physical medium. That led to a new era in the area of communication. Today in the 21st century not only can you call anyone from anywhere around the world but you can also do a variety of other things using a device called “cellular phone” or most aptly called as smart phone.

The first ever mobile was demonstrated by Dr. Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973. Currently there are about 4.6 billion cell phones in the world. Cellphones have been there for quite a while now. And as days go by, their functionalities are ever improving. Initially it started off as a device which was very expensive and used only in case of an emergency. But now cell phones have many features like: phone calls, text message, web access, camera, GPS, alarm clock, calendar etc.

The different types of cell phones based on design are:

  1. Candy bar phones- As the name suggests the cell phone resembles a candy bar. It is one of the most widely used and sold cell phone design by most people around the world. The dial-pad is exposed in the front for easy accessibility and specifically preferable in case of an emergency. One main advantage of this architecture is that it is easy to hold and has a sleek design.

  1. The FLIP phone: Also known as Clamshell phone – this is the image that comes to most people’s mind when we talk about cell phones. The phone acts like a foldable device which has a hinge at the centre. The phone’s keypad and screen are visible only when the phone is ‘unfolded’. The main advantage of such a type of design is that the screen is protected from the external environment and the keys do not get pressed unknowingly when kept in the pocket. The phone is also large in size when opened but when folded it becomes a compact tiny device which is very convenient to carry. The main disadvantage is that the hinge is identified as the weak spot. Any kind of physical damage at the hinge may lead to electrical malfunction.

  1. Slider phones: They are of two types vertical and horizontal slider. A vertical slider comes as compact where as a horizontal slider comes with a full QWERTY keypad. However like Flip phones the slider phones too are vulnerable to physical damage.

  1. QWERTY phones: They are similar to candy bar phones except for the fact that they incorporate a full QWERTY keypad. The same pattern that a typical computer keyboard follows. The main disadvantage can be the bulky nature of this phone which is cumbersome to carry around in one’s pocket.
  2. Touch screen phone: Welcome to the 21st century where everything can just be touched and obtained. This phone completely eliminates the requirement of a keypad and all the elements on the phone can just be touched either using a stylus of your own finger. Touch screen comes in two types capacitive and resistive.

APPLE IPHONE4 – Where style meets substance

Monday, September 12th, 2011

When Apple announced the launch of its coveted iphone 4, there was great anticipation in the market-with new features like HD recording, super high resolution screen and extremely slender design. A traditional iphone user won’t be disappointed with what apple has provided with the new iphone 4. With Apple competing with other smart phone giants like Motorola, HTC and Samsung, the road ahead looks very competitive and the phone that provides the most features at the minimum possible cost coupled with durability and good looks will eventually win the race.

So whats new in Apple iphone 4

  1. 1.    Screen

The screen resolution of the Apple iphone is pretty impressive. It has 960 by 640 pixels that are packed into 3.5 inch screen which as compared to  HTC’s Evo 4G’s   800 by 480, 4.3 and Samsung galaxy S2’s 800 by 480 4.27 inch screen, is pretty impressive and provides a higher pixel density. When it comes to screen resolution, other vendors still have a long way to go. A normal human eye can decipher detail in a screen at up to 300 pixels per inch. And the iphone 4 has 326 pixels per inch which means that at an average distance of 15 cm from the human eye, you will be able to read text like no other phone can provide and the user interface elements are very pleasing to the eye. The people at Apple call this “The Retina display” boasting it to be the highest resolution phone ever in terms of display. It has an LED-backlit IPF TFT, capacitive touch screen for recognizing even the slightest of human touch and mind you, the iphone recognizes only human touch and not any other external object. It also comes in packed with a Scratch resistant oleo phobic surface.

  1. 2.    HD Video Editing with Movie

Ever imagined recording HD videos of your loved ones and then having the power to edit it on the phone then and there. The Apple iphone comes with a 5MP camera with a 5X digital zoom and an LED flash for taking pictures in low light conditions. It also comes with an HDR (High dynamic range setting). Just click a picture with the HDR turned on and the iphone automatically captures three pictures with different exposure levels. Awesome isn’t it?

  1. 3.     Gyroscopes Vs Accelerometer

Apple has added a 3-axis gyroscope to its list of features. The traditional accelerometer does not provide you with a fool proof Augmented reality experience as when the user of the phone moves about the phone cannot pick up the marker and the image gets distorted. With the gyroscope on board, the iphone not only detects the three dimensional space but also allows unparalleled performance in case of linear motion by the user, which is a boon to all Augmented reality fans. The Apple iphone 4 comes in bundled with the trademark IOS4, 1GHz ARM cortex-A8 processor, available in two colours black and white, digital compass, goggle maps, voice command dial and a Tv-out. In addition to all this the varieties of Apps that are present in the apple store make it a truly wonderful experience owning this phone. As Apple put it rightly, “If you don’t have an iphone, well, you don’t have an iphone”.

Features of VOIP phones as Business phones

Friday, September 9th, 2011

VOIP stand for voice over internet protocol. In lay man’s terms it means that any individual having an internet connection can make calls over the internet. Now why would a person make calls over the internet if the traditional telephone or for that matter even a cellular phone is available?

One of the the main reason behind the use of VOIP is that call rates using the VOIP are much cheaper. Imagine having a large business where thousands of calls are made to different clients every day. The clients may be local or global. On using the traditional telephone service the cost incurred to the company is much larger as compared to when using a VOIP phone, also called as a business phone. Also a VOIP phone has much better features than a traditional telephone.

The features of a VOIP phone vary depending on different manufacturers and different solutions they ought to provide.

  1. Different slots for plugging in.

VOIP phones come with a RJ-11 port and RJ-45 port. The RJ-11 port is used to connect the asymmetric digital subscriber line for connecting to the internet, where as RJ-45 will pave way for an Ethernet connection. Some VOIP phones also provide multiple RJ-45 ports so that the VOIP phone can act as a hub for connecting other network devices and telephones.

  1. Client matter code

It is very cumbersome to keep track of all the details as far as billing is concerned. Using VOIP phones solves this problem. The assigned system administrator can specify certain factors to be tracked when a call is made. The different factors include length of call made to different locations or the identity of the recipient. This is particularly useful for large businesses where detailed reports are made based on this information.

  1. E911 service

Ever wondered what it would be like in an emergency when you happened to call 911 emergency services and not having the time to utter out your name and location? Well IP phone makes this task easier for you. Just by the touch of a button a call is made to the emergency services. And guess what? It automatically delivers your name and present location to the nearest local dispatch emergency centre. Great isn’t it?

  1. Directory:

The IP phone is capable of integrating all the contacts present in Microsoft Active directory and also Microsoft Outlook. Some IP phones even provide additional functionality like displaying all the contacts that are available on the phone.

  1. Convenience

Imagine that you have your entire work team attending a conference off site. Instead of them wasting their time calling in for voice messages, using an IP phone we can redirect all the calls as far as work is concerned to their individual mobile phones.

  1. Videoconferencing

An IP phone also provides additional functionalities like watching live video on the internet. Some IP phones incorporate a VGA camera and video phone books. Also clients and co workers present in potentially different regions of the world can engage in videoconferencing.

  1. Additional features

VOIP phones also provide additional features like sending a Fax while making a call and an enhanced voice mail service where one can not only listen to voice messages but also save them and receive them as an email for future reference.
